The tester worked when I received it as I checked it immediately. Today, 5 months later, I finally had a project that required an electrical tester and it didn't work. I removed the battery cover and shook the batteries into the container and a small puddle of battery acid formed. It's a small tube and it's hard to look inside, but I think the small circuit board was dirty. I tried to clean up what I could see and added new batteries. All 4 buttons work but no current is detected. Tested on 3 sockets and directly on the screws in the work light switch. I will not buy anything from this manufacturer again. Suggest to replace the batteries immediately when you buy them.
