The tester worked when I received it as I checked it immediately. Today, 5 months later, I finally had a project that required an electrical tester and it didn't work. The only complaint is that it's quite large (similar to most other modern flashlights, but not as easy to carry as my no-frills 20-year-old hot-wire detector).
