The round shape of the palette is very useful for remembering which colors are complementary, it helps a lot in mixing neutral and gray tones. I really wanted to love this palette, especially since, having filled almost an entire tube of paint into each cell, it represents a significant financial investment. The biggest issue I had with the Quiller palette is the plastic it's made of. First, the paint accumulated on the mixing surface. I rubbed a little so that the paint does not drip. Now the blending area is coloring so much that I can't tell what color I'm blending. There is a porcelain version of the palette that will most likely solve these problems, but it is expensive and heavy. I' I decided to place a small china plate over the mixing area so I have a better surface for mixing the colors. The large indentations are good for dipping paint and have a soft, rounded shape, making them easy to apply with brushes, even large ones. However, filling the cavities is a commitment to using the chosen colors, since it is not easy to switch from one color to another. The search for a similar circular palette continues, but with removable holes so I can throw in the colors I use right away, rearrange or swap colors, and experiment with other additions. Finally I knew it was a big palette but wasn't really prepared how much space it took up. The lid is as big as the palette, which is a nice feature for keeping the paint clean, but it's so big that when I take it off, I have nowhere to put it. In general this seemed like a good idea, but in practice it doesn't work as well as we'd like. I like the concept of a round sky with opposite complements and clearly defined tertiary colors. This is a great tool to learn how to mix colors. It would be a four star item but the plastic feels cheap, the edges feel rough and it gets dirty enough to lose a few stars. I have nowhere to put it.
