It works and I haven't had trouble with it. Does require some simple assembly to attach the tower to the base - though since I don't need to move it around until I disassemble it to bring it to college - I found it unnecessary to screw it together. It works just fine having snapped the base together and set the tower in place.Using cold water helps with the cooling function which does indeed work well, certainly better than an ordinary fan. It works especially well in dry weather or after having a dehumidifier on a while. I've never had to use higher than the lowest cooling setting, which is quite quiet and the hum isn't an irritating one. Helps make hot nights a lot less miserable.
