Review on πŸ”§ ACDelco GM OE 15-11073 Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Assembly by Joshua Castillo

Great price and quality OEM

for my 2004 Colorado. My truck used to run just above the 1/4 mark on the temp gauge, but with this thermostat it's now closer to midpoint, indicating an upgrade they made to them to get them up to 195 degrees instead of like before. 180. I received a P0128 code, so my original thermostat was stuck open. To replace, loosen the lug nuts on the wheel on the driver's side, jack up the truck on the driver's side, place a jack under the frame rail for safety, remove the wheel and the wheel guard which is held in place by 6 plastic clips. Place a bucket or pallet under the truck and remove the lower radiator hose from the radiator. This will remove the old coolant that can build up sludge. Then also run a gallon of distilled water through the radiator and drain. Also remove the expansion tank, drain and clean it. I used two 9" 1/4" extensions along with a 10mm 6 point swivel socket to loosen the bolts. Once the bolts are out, remove the old thermostat housing and hose from the truck to give you a better chance of removing the stubborn collar. Be sure to remove the old o-ring if it remains on the cylinder block. Wipe the mating surface. Put it all back together and fill it up with nearly 2 gallons of Dex-Cool, which you can also get at Revain for a great price. I removed the stubborn clamp and used 2 regular snail clamps I bought from Vatozone. They are easier to use than an OEM clamp. I tighten them with my long extensions from the underside of the truck. The truck is now about 2 squares less than halfway.

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Blank thermostat OEM
