Review on Efficiently Assess Copper Levels with LaMotte 2994 Insta Test Copper Multi Factor by Scot Hughes

Great way to test iron and copper

I have poor water quality at my beachfront home in North Carolina and I use this to ensure my water treatment equipment is doing its job. They are easy to use, provide accurate results, and are much cheaper than using an outside lab. All you have to do is dip one of the test strips into the water sample and wait. You compare the color of the test strip to the scale that comes with the product and you have a good idea of how much iron/copper is in your water. This part couldn't be easier. To make sure I haven't missed anything, I use several different testing methods that are cross-checked and we send samples to the local lab twice a year. In addition to the LaMotte test strips, I also use a test kit from Hach (good for iron - better for general harness testing), a TDS meter, and various inexpensive water quality tests. When it comes to iron levels (my big problem), LaMotte seems to be the closest to what I get from the lab. The only thing I complain about is that it's not detailed enough when you have very low trace levels. After treatment, our water usually still contains 0.1 ppm iron, which cannot be measured with a test strip. You can say it's not zero and you can say it's 1 PPM at most, but you really can't say exactly what the value is at low concentrations. Definitely a good choice if you are concerned about iron or copper in your water.
