I have used several items from Tekton over the years and in general you can expect them to be decent or even better than decent - they take time to more than just to rename a directory entries, as many import providers do. I've had a few bad choices with Tekton and I usually go for higher quality tools, but overall it's a good mid-range brand to look out for first. I have the smooth jawed version of these pliers and they really are great - no reason not to give them a solid 5. I can also get the jagged version. The tool steel appears to be of good quality and is surprisingly well ground and finished - there are no burrs to clean and the edges are clean and sharp (I chose to chip the edges on mine somewhat, but that's not necessary. With a stone only lasts a few minutes). and a file was not needed). I didn't realize they were only 5" instead of 5-1/2" like the others in the line, but they will. If you want a longer and fuller grip, go somewhere with the regular 6 inch version. The coated handle is only 3 inches long. The tip is 1/4" wide and tapers to 5/16" at the base. Jaw. They're about 3/64 inch thick, which sounds pretty flimsy, but they're sturdy and quite adequate. The full length of the jaw is approximately 1-5/16 of an inch. The width of the hinge on this surface is about 1/2 inch. As stated in the description, there is actually a very small gap along the length of the jaw, which can be an advantage or disadvantage depending on your needs. meet only a few millimeters before the gap gradually opens up. The widest part of the gap on mine is only about 0.23mm (about 9k with a feeler gauge). I only see this as a disadvantage when working with ultra thin foil or similar - otherwise it's a good feature for getting a better grip along the length until the material gets thicker and the gap on these pliers is still good for that - not too big. These tongs may not be suitable for this purpose due to their sharper edges if you want to roll them up during use, but they are easy enough to cut or round off if you wish. The spring action is great, not too hard but just hard enough to open safely, very similar feel to high quality electronics pliers. Given the short handlebars, I was expecting it to be easy to pinch your skin in the hinge, but surprisingly that doesn't happen - great. I really wish the cranks were closer to the axle for isolation (they could add about a half inch of grip and shouldn't interfere with the spring, or go for a molded crank and stretch a little higher). Anyway, these are amazing quality pliers and I couldn't believe I didn't have to clean them right out of the box. If they are not too small for you, I can highly recommend them.
