Review on ☕️ Gaggia Carezza De LUXE Espresso Machine: A Luxurious Silver Brewing Experience by Sourn Debremarkos

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazing coffee, lots of bad tech

I give this machine five stars even though it has a lot of serious issues. The reason I give it five stars is because it simply makes the best coffee I've ever made and better than most coffees I've ever had anywhere. On time (to warm up the internal parts). However, you can disable this permanently or spontaneously. To turn it off temporarily, turn it on and press the third button from the left to turn off the light. Press this button again before turning off the machine. To disable them permanently, do not press the button a second time. Pros: 1. This is the best coffee I've ever made (once I understood its properties). 2. Unlike other home coffee makers I've used (Breville and others), it handles the finest grinds with ease.3. zero leaks. Every other coffee maker I've had constantly left puddles on the counter. (Electrify someone?) It doesn't leak at all.4. Pretty quiet for a home espresso machine. And the glasses you keep on a heating pad don't rattle as much. I think it's because it's a good weight despite a lot of plastic.5. Looks nice on the counter.6. The top cup warmer is large enough to comfortably hold four double-walled stacks. Disadvantages: 1. The pump is not self-priming. This means that every time you run out of water you will create a vapor lock and have to manually re-prime the pump. This also applies to the very first use of the machine. Priming the pump is tricky, and getting it right the first time is largely down to luck. You turn on the machine and then open the hot water tap (press the fourth button from the left, then open the steam regulator). When the water begins to flow, press the second button from the left to pour hot water through the group head. If you get an error message, unplug your device and start again.2. Because of this, the water tank is tiny. You will run out of water. And then you have to prime the pump again. If you don't place this in good light, it's also very hard to see the water level.3. In order to get a good cup of coffee with a good crema, you need to tighten the portafilter properly. Too tight or too loose and it's ruined. (The knob should be a few degrees off center, at least on my particular machine.) 4. This auto-center knob does not auto-center itself. It folds back once you tighten the portafilter, but where it ends depends on how tight you tighten it. So what's the point? Just extra moving parts that will eventually break. By advertising I mean reviews of this product that I looked at before purchasing. You can use any coffee, you don't need to stuff. That's totally inaccurate. Use a very fine grind. Stomp lightly. This will give you the best result.6. When it arrives there is a lot of grease in the portafilter and basket. You should wash it and run hot water to get rid of it. As others have pointed out, the instructions are useless. This company is owned by Philips. You can get limited information from their website. There are third party websites that provide more detailed information about any issues you may be having.8. Descaling is a bit annoying. The instructions are not clear in some places. Much luck. Oh by the way, that's what the blinking yellow light next to the explanatory dot icon means: it's time to descale. Not that you can find out by looking at the manual.9. After all, you'll have to play around with it for a while before you learn how to consistently brew the coffee you want. When I first got this machine, I got about one in three cups of decent foam. The rest was flat. I played with the grind, compaction, tamper, amount of coffee used, making sure there was no soil on or near the rim of the basket and I got the results I always get.
