I may just be lucky but all my 5 sensors are working fine. 0 degrees Celsius in a thermos of ice water and 100 degrees Celsius in boiling water. It should be noted that the accuracy of the temperature measurement is only as good as the cold junction temperature compensation system of the meter. Temperature meters typically use an internal thermistor for this, so the temperature error is the temperature reading error of that internal thermistor plus any error in the thermocouple itself. Inexpensive gauges don't read the internal thermistor very accurately, resulting in temperature measurement errors of 6 degrees Fahrenheit or more. It is also very important to leave the temperature meter at a fixed room temperature for at least 20 minutes before use to allow the meter's internal temperature to stabilize. If you suddenly take the meter outside where it is hot or cold, you will initially see large errors in the temperature reading when the thermocouple is held at a fixed temperature (e.g. in ice water).
