My Canon XF300 (1.0 lux) camcorder completely disabused me of any notion of sensitivity (in lux). I took the photo at night in total darkness, and it appeared in the viewfinder to be a night vision device. I found minimal difference between the 1.0 and 1.4 suites. Naturally, this is not the case in this instance. The standard webcam (well, maybe a little better than the less expensive ones). Got advantages: software, mount, microphone sensitivity, shutter, and design. Cons: In a dark environment, I anticipated better sensitivity. Should see virtually like the eye at F2.8 and 1.4 lux. Ah. no! a high-quality video card and an expensive camera with competent software; otherwise, it's quite pathetic (it uses pre-installed drivers for the video card to cut the background). The USB cord is really sturdy.
