I have a very active 5 year old who loves to push his BMX to the limit at the skate park. After a failed bunny jump attempt failed, I added this full face helmet to his essential protective gear. I always winced when he came down ramps in the park as his open helmet would completely expose his face in case of an accident. The helmet arrived today and we went to the skate park. My son enjoyed going up and down the ramps, practicing his "fake tricks" and working on his bunny jumps. There were a few falls (as usual) but I'm happy to report that the helmet did the job and protected him fully. Now I feel safer because it has full head and face protection when I'm driving aggressively. Fit: With a head circumference of 52 cm, according to Bell's size chart, it is one size too small. However, I followed other people's recommendations on this site and bought a size up (medium). I'm VERY glad I did. Even the medium is quite close to him. The helmet doesn't move at all. If it were smaller it would be too tight (as others have pointed out). I've been riding bikes and motorbikes for over 25 years, so I know how a helmet should fit. If you are looking for a small size and your child's head is larger than 51.5cm, I would definitely choose a medium size. The helmet is VERY well made. For the money and for the purpose (BMX) I don't think you can beat it.
