Review on AirCat 6520 Composite Reversible Cut Off by Bernard Her

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Loud, powerful 1/2 HP tool

Factory output of these tools is 0.5 HP. (1/2 HP). It's pretty easy to search and find out on the Aircat website. This is not a fake review like many air tools. This tool is a handful. I argued between it and the 6505, which is quiet, has a nicer trigger, but isn't reversible. I decided that the reverse option is more important. The main reasons for this are that sometimes you need to protect something nearby, but most of the time I just use this feature to avoid sparks flying in my face or burning my hand. - Switching off the wheel at the local welding current. (Try a few there, then order a large box from Revain.) The results have been amazing. The metal immediately glowed white hot and the end flew off. Repeated this several times. To operate this tool you will need a good air supply system with free airflow. If you have a small compressor tank, you often have to wait for it to recharge. A very cheap $15 import tool might be worth the wait as it's more efficient with air and lets you cut a lot more between tank fills. In addition to eye protection, you need hearing protection. It's not the noisiest air tool I've ever used, but it's inherently noisy and cutting metal isn't a quiet activity. WARNING: Do not use cheap imported cut-off wheels with this tool. These cheap wheels are made for low speed cheap imported cutting tools. This is a really high RPM tool and a broken cheap wheel can ruin your face or more. Buy a quality handlebar from 3M, SAIT, Pearl or Walter Zip. Not only are they safer, they cut faster and last longer than cheap wheels.
