If you want to make your own jewelry, you NEED this tool. I can't think of what else it could be used for - maybe making models - but the bits are VERY small. And thin. That's really all you need when drilling a small hole in metal, wood, plastic, resin, etc. I don't know if you'll have much success trying to drill through metal thicker than 24 gauge, but I do know it works up to 24g. This little drill bit set also works wonders for polymer clay. I've also used it on paper and rubber with great results. Conclusion: Great little tool for very small jobs that don't really need a flex shaft. The bits are smaller than the bits that come with the Fiskars Craft Drill (green), making it great for jewelry work. (The tips are VERY small.) A thorough understanding of what this tool is for will allow it to perform well for a long time - apply gentle pressure to allow the twisting motion of the drill bit to do most of the work. (Attempts to push too hard *result* in breakage, irritation, slipping and scratching and a serious chance of you teaching your 4-year-old new colorful words. Which he won't repeat until you're in a church or at work-related events or standing next to them while talking to their teacher/principal (or your boss).
