You are better off with solid brick, if you have concrete walls.I have installed this in the middle of 2x4 studs with 3 inch lag bolts.You will need to ensure you install this with the j hooks being level.Also, you will need to ensure you allow enough clearance when doing pull-ups so that you do not hit your head on the ceiling.Recommend?Absolutely yes!I love this device and give this a 5-star rating.
