Unique Colors for Beautiful Flowers or Landscapes

Ten colors from Daniel Smith for beautiful flowers or landscapes (or abstractions, you decide). bluish violet and lunar blue, grainy dark blue fading to green; There are (as far as I remember) magnetic particles in the paint that cause the paint to granulate or clump together giving an attractive textured effect. Aussie Red Gold is another Daniel Smith exclusive; it is Quinacridone Red plus two other pigments (PY83-Diarylide Yellow 83, PR101 Mars Orange). I don't usually use mixed pigment colors but this color is really nice, almost golden orange. Rounding out the unique colors are Cascade Green, which is burnt umber and blue phthalo, Undersea Green, another triple pigment, Ultramarine, Nickel Azo Yellow and Quinacridone Gold. And finally, Green Apatite Genuine, Primatek's paint made from crushed minerals. Granulating olive green from stones. Other colors are found in other color lines, such as Nickel Azo Yellow, which replaces Aureolin, or Cadmium Lemon, almost mass-toned ocher but washed out to a beautiful lemon yellow, Imperial Purple, which is an ultramarine, and Quin Violet, a convenient mix and Quinacridone. Magenta and "Opera" - a bright pink chewing gum. The colors are somewhat unique, although many of them are blends and contain three pigments (which isn't an idea because if you mix more colors you can get a matte effect where the absorption spectra don't match very well). However, you can do some interesting blends and the greens are good - most lamp greens are pretty terrible and can't be used in the landscape without blending them as they look unnatural. The only color I don't like here is Imperial Purple. It's a fairly pure grape color, but it shows a chromatographic separation on hot-press paper (you can see the separation of ultramarine and quinacridone). Violet carbazole is almost identical and is a single pigment. anywhere with this set and make landscapes. Add yellow and pure red and you have a floral palette. I made the patterns on hot press paper (smooth surface). I usually use a cold press (serrated surface) but I wanted to see it at its worst. Hot pressing is more difficult. It has a lot of granules and if you like that texture you will love this set.
