Review on πŸ”§ Efficiently Sand Drywalls with the WEN 6369 Variable Drywall Sander by Aaron Shaw

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great tool. Saves a lot of time! Tips and Tricks

Hired an expensive Porter cord grinder for pre repair, this Wen does the same. Achieving a clean finish is mostly down to technique. Sure, it wobbles a bit when you dangle it, but it's easy to adjust the pressure, travel direction, tool orientation, arm movement, or RPM to stop it, and the same goes for the carrier's cable. Take all that with a pinch of salt, I just sanded <2000 sqft. Feet combined with any brand. My mistake with renting is that I sanded too much. Almost dust-free if you have a filter sock or other pre-filter on your vacuum cleaner. I didn't bother using plastic for what you see in the video. There is no thin layer of dust on nearby surfaces. Just let the pad breathe from time to time to keep it from sticking and reduce the suction. Dust the sock off the filter when you hear the vacuum motor start to charge and the CFM drop (every 10-15 minutes?). Special Rating: - No complaints about the build quality. - The size of the pad is ok, the sandpaper from the kit does not touch the bristles. .- You may need a hose adapter, I just glued something I had on hand. (I'm usually against using tape) General tips, some of which are based on common sense: - Scrape off the burrs before sanding, be careful not to scrape or you'll end up with even more dirt - Center that Sandpaper like the best you can, this is really important - don't overheat the vacuum. If necessary, reduce suction with a bleeder on the wen, preferably where the hose diameter changes. Use a bright flashlight parallel to the surface to easily check for defects. Gradual ridges are good and to be expected when you're chafing a non-recessed seam. - Do not sand new/untouched drywall, the paper will start to peel, bleed, etc. - Allow the gasket and hoses to breathe from time to time to clear buildup and maintain your CFMs - If this is new to you, There is an art to not sanding too much, too much or too little. Be sure you will be successful. Use a filter sock or pre-filter device. For the project in this video, the finish was good enough to project directly onto a painted wall using an Epson 5040ub. 150". There used to be a fireplace. A drop down screen recessed into the ceiling and a new fireplace will eventually be installed. Only temporary. The video wasn't supposed to be reviewed, but here it is.
