Review on πŸͺ‘ IKEA BEKVAM Beige Wooden Utility Step - Enhanced for SEO by James Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

What's not to like?

Wooden stools are usually expensive, but not this one. The reason for this is simple: it is untreated raw wood. No problem. It can be used in different designs. I used Birchwood-Casey Tru-Oil because it's easy to apply (with a tissue) and doesn't drip. You will need multiple coats with drying and light sanding in between to achieve a nice shine. Parts require machining before assembly. I'm sure polyurethane spray would be easier and quicker, but it doesn't penetrate the wood and may be less durable. It's a real tree, birch, I've read it and it looks good. Not chipboard like many others that are likely to deteriorate in a year. I don't understand any of the reviews describing the difficulty of assembly. The instructions are simple and very clear. The screws are simply screwed in with the supplied Allen key. There is an IKEA logo on the stool but I checked and IKEA no longer sells it. Maybe another supplier bought his remaining stock. Yes, I know IKEA sold them for $19.95, but given the high quality of the stool, I paid $40 for this unit with prime shipping without a problem. It looks great and is perfect for reaching up to wall units or just sitting down to tie your laces.
