When the cover first arrived I was a bit skeptical as it is not made from the usual vinyl material I use for spare wheel covers. After installing and using it in my trailer for a while, I liked it. The nylon material seems to be quite durable and looks good. It won't dry out or crack like my original tire case, but time will tell how well it holds up over the long haul. The cover is held in place by a nylon cord that runs through the stitching along the inside edge. The cable is tightened and held by one of the standard cable holders. I think mine had enough cord for two turns, so you can cut off a piece and tie the ends back together. I've done three 100 mile trips with a trailer and the lid stayed tight. So far, so good
