Review on πŸ”˜ BroadLink Smart Button: 3 Way Dimmer Switch Control with IFTTT and Alexa, Wireless Home Automation Hub Included by Andre Hawkins

Overall you really don't get what you pay for.

So first of all a great idea but poorly executed. This might work better if you only use it in the Broadlink ecosystem. But I didn't, I need a switch to use with some smart bulbs as I'm tired of people using a light switch. It didn't stop it because the length of the delay to get the bulbs to respond when that button itself was the urge to respond was too great, I had the bulbs connected to ZigBee with Alexa 4th Gen and the procedures were on Alexa performed. I have connected several other devices in a similar manner and have never had any problems like I have with these. First, these switches don't like to be responsive, to the point that if I wanted them to turn the light off, I'd have to press the button about 20 times and still wait about 30 seconds (roommates don't like that so they just turn the would turn off the normal power switch). Secondly, I mentioned the lag, yes they all do. I know it's probably connected to Alexa, but oh my god it sucked when I tried any of the IFTTT features advertised. Don't do it with IFTTT, just don't do it. You'll die of dysentery before they do anything. Save money and time and buy a similar set of 4 keys from Alibaba, most of them can even perform multiple actions per key based on hold, double press and maybe even triple press. I might have better luck going with Broadlink products, but I would prefer the Oregon way.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • Good but not great
