Review on 🐴 Cashel Crusader Horse Fly Mask with Ears in Orange for Charity: Protect and Support Your Horse! by Jake Powell

No more problems with the fly mask

I bought two horse sized masks one for my gray gelding who usually needs less stickiness and the other for my colored mare who usually uses one needed more grip. Although both use a regular saddle, only when adjusting the halters/head bindings will one be on the smaller holes and the other on the larger ones. Unfortunately, the mask seems too big for my gray and too small for my color. The masks still fit, but not perfectly, they don't cause any problems, but I've tried the Kensington mask on both and they fit much better (I had other problems with this mask, so I didn't save it). So I use this mask and just try to fit it as best as I can. Horses don't prefer them, not even ears. They LOVE that their forelock can show through. They don't itch at the end of the day when I take my masks off. The masks are also not chafing and don't seem to irritate the skin at all. I live in a grazing area with LOTS of flies and even if I wear my gray mask loosely the flies cannot sneak up on the mask. Horse visibility is great and the darts are well shaped so they don't collapse towards the eyes like cheaper goggles do. They also seem to have excellent ventilation, the horses underneath don't sweat at all even in 100 degree heat. Overall I'm happy although I wish the fit was a little better but the best I've found are fly masks and not the Kensington ones but again I'm having trouble with this mask. I also like that these masks feel around the skin contact points so I don't have to worry about them chafing my skin. He's super soft. It blocks the sunlight, much like wearing a pair of great sunglasses. Gray could get sunburned around his eyes in front of this mask, and not sunburned with the mask at all! Visibility deteriorates at dusk due to heavy sunlight blocking, but we still photograph them at night. Our horses also graze, and although sometimes covered in weed pollen and grass seed, they are very hardy. And they keep most pollen/seeds out of horses' eyes. Overall I'm satisfied, I just wish the size range was a little wider to better suit different horse head shapes.
