I was very disappointed after the first two scratches on this knife block. and I've read knife loading/unloading instructions but it's just unavoidable and now I'll just admit it's part of the deal. However, the knife block is amazing and artistic and makes such a statement alongside our amazing Dacor line. The knives are really very sharp and very well balanced / quality handles / look great. I only allow people to use them on wooden cutting boards which means most of the people in my house don't use them, just my husband and I which is fine by me. One more thing, the magnetic knife block holds more knives than this set so we were able to add some Japanese steel blades that we bought without the knife block in the display case. I love it!
