Review on 🍝 Bialetti 7265 Oval 5.5 Quart Pasta Pot with Strainer Lid: Nonstick, Black - Efficient Kitchen Cookware by Johnathan Cash

A huge improvement over the original aluminum pot

I now have two original aluminum versions and this is my favorite pasta pot. The aluminum ones are fine, but over time the inner nonstick coating will start to peel off (and you don't want to eat it), and either the plastic parts or the spot welding will fail. When they got to a certain point I just made holes in the ground and now they're some very fun flower pots. The stainless steel model basically fixes all the issues I had with the aluminum model. The handles (side and top) are made from fairly strong machined steel and are attached with rivets (no spot welds to break). There is no non-stick coating, which I find to be an advantage because a) I don't like it that much anyway and b) nothing has chipped over time. They also added a little lip on the lip to keep the cap from rotating too far and all the way which is nice. The only downside is that the metal handles (obviously) get hot unlike the bakelite handles on the old one, but that's a pretty minor complaint and I'm not used to other utensils. All in all it was a pretty solid upgrade from the old one (which was already great) and I don't think this pot was ever intended as a flower pot! Incidentally, I got it almost half price on Warehouse Deals because it was labeled "major cosmetic damage that does not affect function" or something like that; It was intact when I received it, so I'm guessing the buyer mistook the latch on the lid for damage (and it looks that way at first glance, but it's also in the pictures on the box, so) .
