The claim is that this will last three years. My first battery has lasted almost seven years. I definitely don't have as many guests as typical people do but just the fact it's still working is a brag-point for the designer. I've had many Wireless items work when I unpackaged them, but three years later when I actually want to put them to work. they're dead. How is that possible? Lightning! Yes, the electro-magnetic pulse from lightning is one of the most destructive things to electronics.-- One negative, even though it's on the north side of my house, it gets enough sun in the summer that the plastic case of the outside unit is starting to decompose from the UV light. I'm in southern Arizona, so I get a bit more summer light on the north side than you Canadians will. I suggest you consider Painting it CAREFULLY so you don't glue moving parts together: the button, the front/back case portions, to block UV.
