Review on LG 32UN500-W 31.5" Virtually Borderless Monitor with 3840x2160p, Anti-Glare Display, Built-In Speaker, and Wall Mount Compatibility by Matthew Rodrigues

Beautiful display - BUT three caveats!

This monitor has an absolutely amazing picture. The 4k resolution gives you plenty of space to view code, markup, images, text, games, movies and whatever! Super bright. My three biggest complaints: - Power on/off and adjust ANY setting with a single button press on the bottom edge of the bezel under the LG logo. Like a four-position switch that you press to select something. Only it's at the bottom of the bezel and about 1/4 inch around, so you're trying to push up, back, front, whatever, and it's extremely awkward to use. I mean EXTREME! I'd love to experiment with the settings, but this interface (if you can call it that) is driving me crazy. Give me a row of buttons on the side/back of the bezel like everyone else! - Large crescent base. Not bad for a TV, but that's MONITOR. On the table. Would you like to place your keyboard and mouse next to your monitor? Forget it. Do you have a wired mouse instead of a wireless one? This base guarantees that you will not be able to move in the way you want. is about 1 inch tall, so it can't even slide neatly under most keyboards. Give me a nice thin flat base or even two pairs of legs like a Vizio TV. It doesn't even rotate LR. The only adjustments are tilting up and down and fore and aft.- The power supply isn't a standard computer cable, it's a barrel-shaped plug like a laptop. However, unlike a laptop, the power supply is one plug (like a router or cable modem) but HUGE! It's literally the size of two stacked decks of cards, with the cork sticking out of the rim. And the cable is only about 3 meters long. You should definitely order a GROUNDED (yes, three-prong) power strip if your UPS or power strip isn't directly on your desk. If you want to hang it on your desk and slide it on the wall? Forget the brick sticks out about 4 inches. Just put the power supply in the case and make the case a bit thicker.
