This 1/8" mesh hardware cloth was an inexpensive way to add a wasp or mud smear barrier to my $20,000 Generac. Before leaving the setup, my Generac dealer advised me to add this barrier. He told a story of a Generac owner with a damaged generator due to nests in the mud sludge. As for the quality and condition of the hardware stuff, other reviewers complained about the web being rippled. That's correct. Therefore, users may want to fold and smooth the cut edges to get a straight line. This makes the plate stiffer. Use a marker to mark the cut piece. Use metal scissors to cut and a piece of wood and a hammer to bend the edges. The fabric is hot dip galvanized giving you a few hardened drops of electroplating. The fabric also comes in a tight roll but is easy to straighten out.
