Genuine Bakelite handle to match the original Revere Ware design. It may be a bit smaller than the original buttons on the very early Revere stock, but it looks ok. If your pot lid still has a threaded rod attached, the new handle should screw onto it like the original. Our lid was so old that its handle was attached with three small precision welds. When they broke (after only 50+ years of use!), an irregularly shaped hole was formed. I decided to use a small round file to open up a hole big enough to fit the #8 machine screw. Attempting to use an electric drill would result in an off-center ragged hole as stainless steel is difficult to drill. If you have access to a suitable power drill, it can work if used carefully. Take your new pen to a good hardware store and find a #8 stainless steel pan head screw about 3/4 inch long with a thread pitch. of 32 (32 threads per inch) to match the threaded insert on the new handle. Try turning the screw in the handle to make sure it isn't too long to reach the end before pressing the handle firmly against the lid. To distribute the load on the lid I chose a stainless steel washer and placed it on the underside of the lid before driving the screw. To prevent the handle from unscrewing, I applied blue Loctite screw glue when assembling the parts. Be careful not to overtighten the screw as this will break the Bakelite handle.
