They do their job, but they certainly aren't perfect. Other reviews note that the tips tend to slip out. You MUST secure the tip with the silver metal clip. It goes straight in, then twist the back end to hold it in place. If you do everything correctly, the hints will not appear all the time. If you don't reattach this spring clip, they will fall apart easily. Where you place the tips will determine whether the pliers will open or close the ring. Easy enough to understand if you take a few minutes to play around with it. I wish they opened up a little wider. I had a hard time opening a few rings because the pliers just wouldn't open wide enough. Overall 4 stars. Mainly because it's half the price of other circlip pliers and I didn't want to spend a lot of money. They work, but don't expect it to be the highest quality tool in the world.
