Review on πŸ”‘ ACDelco Gold Starter 337-1029 by Original Mansel

Revainrating 5 out of 5

So far, so good. See below for replacement instructions.

Old starter failed on a 2002 Envoy 4.2L I6. Discuss buying refurbished or aftermarket vehicles at auto parts stores or Rock Car. Found this Delco starter brand new and at the best price. Something easy to install. The starter is in a stupid spot. If you are doing it yourself the best way to install is to remove the left front wheel and go through the wheel arch hatch. Having the help of a drinking buddy who is looking down from the engine bay and is your eyes will make this process even quicker. You will need 19mm to remove the protrusions. disconnect the battery. Use 8mm and 13mm to remove the nuts holding the wires connected to the starter. 15mm to remove the bolt holding the starter closest to the left side of the vehicle and 15mm deep with a 6" extension to remove the nut from the stud on the other side of the starter. You may have to push out the wiring harness. Not much to get the pedestal on the other side by the way. This is where your partner's eyes come in handy from above. That's how it falls when you move the nest to the right position. Again, your buddy's guidance will come in handy here. Took me about 40 minutes from start to finish.
