They are better made than most hooks available. The clamping mechanism is stronger (more plastic) and will hopefully hold up better. The end of the elastic will need to be melted in a small flame to make sure it doesn't come loose from the threads. Then place the plastic ring on the cord and insert the end of the cord into the hook, making sure you insert it all the way in. It was easier for me to use the slider Install the plastic retaining ring with needle nose pliers to squeeze the retaining tabs together. Sometimes the retaining ring still won't slide all the way up. In those cases I simply used the end vise on my workbench to give it a final easy twist to press.
