Review on πŸ“· Nikon Manual Focus Lens AI-S FX NIKKOR 50mm f/1.2 Fixed Zoom for Nikon DSLR Cameras by Brittany Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I think this will be a great addition to my collection of Nikon manual focus lenses.

I have no idea what "fixed zoom" means. This is a 50mm lens. No zoom. Period. However, I received it today and took some test shots that led me to believe that I would be just as happy with this 50mm Nikon manual focus lens as I was with my 28mm AI-S manual focus lens. Great glass, metal, no plastic so it's old school Nikon design and build. I have a Nikon 50mm f/1.8G which was a lot cheaper but never really impressed me so I don't use it. As reviewers warn, this is a slick lens. Very shallow depth of field (although I only took test shots with the aperture open up to f/5.6). But that's exactly what I wanted, strong "Bokeh". And if you take the time and patience to ensure perfect focus (take lots of shots), the resolution will reward you with stunningly sharp photos. Make sure it's what you want and be prepared to spend some time with it. Disclosure: I am not a professional photographer and I shoot with the D750. Will be updated later if necessary.
