Review on 🚴 High-performance Alloy Bicycle Pump by Kyle Hood

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Amazingly clean, efficient travel pump

I've been riding my bike a lot lately and CO2 cartridges are banned by the TSA. Got this for my cross/gravel/adventure bike. Too long to fit in a jersey pocket but just right on the down tube. I was pleasantly surprised that inflating 40mm tires wasn't such a difficult task. I usually pull the hose out, screw it onto the pre-valve (which holds pressure) and then attach the hose to the pump with a magnetic click (surprisingly well). Of course it takes time to inflate such a wide tire, but that's to be expected. The sensor is very helpful. With several tire sizes, I cannot inflate "by feel" by pinching a tire. The built-in sensor doesn't win any price in terms of accuracy, but it will get you home without getting pinched. FWIW, I went with the highway/mountain sensor version as I figured it would be the best compromise between pressure and speed for a gravel bike. Not disappointed at all. One last surprising note: the day I left without wings, I got caught in an hour-long downpour. I figured the pump would have to be disassembled once we got home. Very surprised that somehow no sand got into the pump during storage. Extra points in my book.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Hard to say
