Uncoated but works well

Didn't have time to take photos, I was too busy fixing my truck (2008 Chevy Avalanche). The straps appear to be short, they aren't, they just need some extra motivation. I did this work myself without dropping the tank. My rear strap was rusty and broken and needed replacing. New belts arrived uncoated, I quickly cleaned them and got to work. DO NOT USE PERCUSSION INSTRUMENTS! The speed nut has a very thin mount on the stock and replacement kit when you buy them, time and rust will make this section very weak and you will end up with a rotating nut and bolt. If you are replacing belts, be sure to replace the hardware kit. The front nut is very difficult to remove, but if you snap the shackle in place and use the magnet, it pops out instantly. The rear nut is accessed via a small L-bracket on the frame, which is most likely dirt-filled. It's much easier with the tire off, but this should only be done if the adjusting nut is cracked or jammed. A 15mm wrench, penetrating liquid and patience are what you need. The rear nut was stuck and had to be sawed off/pulled out. A little anti-seize coating on the insert nut flanges and on the surface of the tank band and some threadlocker on the threads and you're done. If you have two connectors, use them. One to hold the pickup with a piece of wood to distribute the pressure and one to hold the strap and push it closer to the mounting hole. Open the gas cap to relieve some of that increased pressure and the tank will flex better.
