In short, I do not recommend this license plate cover. I had to order a new license plate to replace the one damaged by this cover, see pictures. The lid seems to keep the water in the little pocket where the license plate is supposed to sit. So the underside of the license plate is always in the water and now the front of my license plate is peeling off. This effect can be amplified with salt on the roads in Vermont winter, but I still don't expect the license plate cover to need replacing after 12 months. Also, I had to cut out a small portion of the rubber to allow my registration sticker to be legally visible.
