Review on πŸ”Œ Vantec 2-Port USB 3.1 Gen II PCIe Host Card (Type-A/C) UGT-PC371AC by Jose Cox

An old map that works most of the time. He doesn't have much support behind him.

The card (UGT-PC345) is a legacy USB 3.0 adapter sold under the Vantec brand. I have been using Vantec case fans and wanted to try this product to get USB 3.0 on my system. For the most part it works. However, it seems to have a strange effect on the power management of my M4A78T-E motherboard. Sometimes it wakes up from hibernation as if it were in hibernation. This has never happened before. At least once a bios error occurred during the wake-up process. I tried to find an updated driver but both the hardware and the driver are from 2012 and there have been no updates since then. The Norton file on the Renesas Electronics Corporation website lists the source of the driver file. I used it with an external storage device and it worked fine. It is not clear whether this card is compatible with Windows 10 or not. The driver was not available for download on the Microsoft site for Windows 7. The version on the supplied CD was used.

Pros
  • Keeping my fists
Cons
  • Too long to wait
