I ordered 8x42 containers directly from Tract. John (one of the founders) answered all my questions which are not often asked these days! Solid build, 26+ oz on my 8 felt more solid than the Nikon Monarch HGs I tried and the optics were much better to my eye (sharp edge to edge) with Nikon soft edges. Of course, the field of view is different, but I still like edge-to-edge sharpness as softness is distracting. Focus is smooth and fairly quick. Visit the English site BestBinocularReviews where he talks about it in detail. Update, the diopter adjustment is now locked. I couldn't compete with the current Alpha binoculars from three major German companies, but I tested them on previous generation premium glass. Nothing worse I think. And a lot cheaper. Note: IPD (eye relief) is 58mm, eye relief is 19mm. If you have a small face like me, then 58 was enough, and I mean enough. Size 19 fits my glasses. My previous binoculars had 56 IPD so I was happy to call my optician and have them checked. A simple thing, but worth a look. If you can't make a circle, binoculars are useless to you. If all of that works, then you should consider binoculars. Additionally, you won't be a hiking destination in a bird-friendly country, as it doesn't say S, L, or Z there.
