I'm in my 60's and not as flexible as I was 30 years ago. I have a hard time stepping on the bumper and pulling myself up onto the back of the truck. Even the descent can be an adventure. I was looking for some kind of ladder or step to attach to the back door when I came across this thing. The problem with mounting a folding ladder on the tailgate is that it always gets in the way. Not so with this retractable bumper step. Easy to assemble with decent instructions and weighs 300 pounds (I have about 240). It seems solid when I step on it. It stays folded under the bumper and doesn't get in the way when not in use, simply snapping into place about halfway from the floor to the bumper. Need a little help getting in and out of the back of your truck? Get this retractable step. You will not regret it. It costs less than a trip to the emergency room.
