Glad I waited for the review

Okay, I've had this PC for a little over a year. And up until the last few months I would rate it higher. I'm glad I waited for the review because honestly? I would not recommend this computer or even this brand to anyone right now. While the computer itself works perfectly, the hardware breaks down daily. I initially chose this computer because I previously had a Thinkpad, which was so broken I couldn't even use it once I was done with it, but it has lasted me for years even if I had it second hand , refurbished, got from IBM. When I bought new, this laptop met most of my needs, including a full keyboard and screen size. The first problem I noticed was pretty early on, just after I got it; The fan inside makes a sound like it's being pushed for some reason. It's loud enough to be annoying when I don't have headphones. But that's something I could mostly ignore. But then a few months ago, the right click just stopped working properly. I have to press pretty hard for it to work, and sometimes even that doesn't work, so I was limited to the double-tap method or using the mouse. This makes clicking and dragging almost impossible. Around the same time, the right side of the plastic protecting the hinges started popping out for no apparent reason. It gets stuck in the top right corner of the keyboard part and when it happens I have no choice but to force it open and it makes a horrible click. I was afraid that part of the plastic tread would break and indeed a piece of plastic came loose a few days ago, although I used all my strength to tape it to keep the piece from moving. Yes. Sealed with tape. I got to the point where I started packing my $1,000 laptop so it wouldn't fall apart. I'm afraid the screen itself will pop up. And I'm the kind of person who takes VERY good care of their laptops. I never dropped it, never opened it too much (until it started breaking and forced me to), never grabbed it by the screen; I don't use the touchscreen at all. It's just frustrating because I like the computer itself; It's fast, I've never had any issues with malware, love the full keyboard and even the display. But I've invested in it and expected it to last a few years, and I'll be lucky if I can even make it a year and a half before some major hardware failures happen without cause. Seriously, just skip it. If you pay that much for a computer, buy a better one.

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Anything I can add
