They have nice big touchscreens

We ordered two of these. PRO: They have nice big touchscreens and sound good for a laptop. There are 3 separate speakers inside which are pretty loud. Some people don't like the LCD screen, but it was ok for me. CONS: Poor repair history. Of the two Y50s we bought, both had to be completely reinstalled within a month of receiving them. Luckily I had two, so I could use one to create a recovery disk for the other. Otherwise I would be screwed. Then, shortly after the warranty expired, one of the

Terrible laptop for surfing the web, email, gaming, etc.

I'm an engineer and have had many computers in my personal and professional life. Thought it would be a good combo of processing power and touchscreen for my needs. Conclusion: I do not recommend this machine for anything other than paper weight. As you can see from the photo, the display hinge is broken (for the third time). ) - has already been repaired under Square Trade's warranty. Google Chrome slows down the entire system almost to the point of being unusable; The PC often reaches 100…

HOLD ON IT AND DON'T SPEND YOUR MONEY

Only buy this laptop if you want to waste your money, or at least get damage insurance if you're willing to ship it somewhere in Texas, and who knows how much will have to wait for them to fix it. I've been using this laptop for 6 months now, the battery is terrible so there's nowhere to pull it out and never took it out. It's almost become desktop. But this is not the end of the story. After 4 months I started hearing a noise when I open it but didn't pay much attention and yesterday I opened…

Glad I waited for the review

Okay, I've had this PC for a little over a year. And up until the last few months I would rate it higher. I'm glad I waited for the review because honestly? I would not recommend this computer or even this brand to anyone right now. While the computer itself works perfectly, the hardware breaks down daily. I initially chose this computer because I previously had a Thinkpad, which was so broken I couldn't even use it once I was done with it, but it has lasted me for years even if I had it second

Maybe not even a trackpad

This laptop did the job, which was that I needed a Windows laptop to play around with the Kinect SDK. But the trackpad is the *worst* trackpad I've ever used. Basically, they were trying to mimic the trackpad on a multi-touch Macbook, where the trackpad buttons are part of the surface being tracked. But they don't seem to offer software support for this type of trackpad. * No (or broken) thumb waiver. Sometimes a simple thumb press moves the mouse pointer and I click the wrong one. I can't put…

Emptor Warning -- Machine Can't Stand

I've owned this laptop for about a year. What surprised me from the start was how slow it seemed out of the box. So I cleaned up a lot of Lenovo bells and whistles. It helped for a while. I used this laptop mainly for work but also for gaming. Some heating issues so if you want to buy one, get a good fan. Now unbearably slow, slow to the point where basic functions like loading an excel spreadsheet or god forbid two open system resources take up. And most of the day I need access to…

Poor quality, customer service, performance

From day one, there were performance problems and small problems. I've even upgraded to an SSD, but I'm still not thrilled with the performance for simple things (I'm not a big PC gamer). I reinstalled 8.1 Pro and then upgraded to 10. It got a little better, but now I can see the screen detaching from the lid just above the camera. I have never dropped or scolded this laptop. I honestly don't even use it much so it's definitely a manufacturer fault but luckily for me the warranty expired 3…

It could be a good product.

For the first few months I had a laptop, it worked well and I was impressed with how it looked and worked. Once, a few months after purchase, the screen went off. I couldn't see anything and the documents I had on my laptop had to be deleted because Lenovo had to do it. Also, they had my laptop for a month while they "worked" on it. After I sent it back for "repair" the speakers didn't work. Literally returned day one so had to send it back after waiting a month to get it back. I got it back…

Release after release. Stay away from this train wreck.

Get started. I really liked this computer until one day the left screen connection loop just completely disconnected. It still worked, I just couldn't close the laptop and therefore couldn't transport it. I wondered what I had to do to cause this. Turns out this is a very common problem that occurs at the factory and when I called support to have the laptop fixed they knew what it was and fixed it right away because it was under warranty was. but nothing has changed in the assembly. You can see
