Really wanted them to work as they are well made, easy to put together and come with very good instructions. I have an old chocolate labrador who can't get up on the bed anymore. because of his hips and that's why I bought them. Admittedly, he's quite stubborn and a little "big-boned," but he didn't want anything to do with that staircase. more "ramp" and easier to climb. When he wouldn't get up, I decided to do it myself a few times and try to get him to follow me. Not only did it not work (he was running around trying to jump on his own), but I also noticed that I initially found stairs very difficult, even confusing, due to that noticeable downward slope - they climbed in BTW, it seems, like i'm falling I got used to it over time, and maybe it didn't seem so bad, but he still wouldn't have anything to do with it and certainly wouldn't climb onto the bed with it.
