Works immediately after installation. This is my first LiDAR and the cheaper counterpart to the A2M8 that I may end up using for my current project. I had no operational problems when I learned the ins and outs of ROS. Mechanical work makes a weird humming noise, similar to grinding, and that's my main drawback. Pros: Cheap setup libraries and support for projects using Python, ROS Lidar on the ground as the attached cable supports the weight causing the LiDAR to tilt. Maybe it doesn't matter when it's in my machine, but as a standalone setup, making your own setup for testing/prototyping is very important.
