HP Gain with Filter Noise

Installed on a 2004 Pontiac GTO with 8.5mm MSD (LS1 Common Kit) cables and NGK TR5IX Iridium connectors with 0.040" spacing. Previously, the vehicle would output the engine codes for the right and left bank engines when running lean/rich. New spark plugs and wires cleared this code. The car has a bit more noticeable torque which makes it MUCH easier to get the tires off. Because the K&N filter is less restrictive in all aspects than the stem filter, more engine noise is reflected back from the cone filter than from the stock filter. The result is a noisier engine bay, although I don't think the exhaust note has changed. When accelerating, a clearly perceptible and monstrous "whistle" sounds (i.e. I suck in a lot of cold air) - this can be heard in daylight with the hood closed, but also from the interior when driving around town. even a few tricks to ease the high inputs. Installed at 80,000 miles Seems to have helped the car overall, however no improvement in fuel economy per gallon (wasn't expected from a larger intake - better headers/exhaust results in better MPG). Worth the money if you are going to further modify the car or just want to say you have a K&N kit. Overall, the kit would take about an hour to install for an average monkey (it took much longer for me due to other concurrent updates). Recommended for every goat LS1.
