Review on Hunter Indoor Ceiling Fan Control Appliances by Trey Michaels

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Cannot get smart functionality to work. The "SimpleConnect app " is terrible.

Before you spend $370 on this fan and then $350 on the installation, look online for reviews. Search for "hunter smart fan simpleconnect fan problems". Not sure how Revain managed to avoid 1 star reviews (as of April 2020) but this fan is a huge disappointment. Of course it works with the remote, but I'm paying for it to be "smart" and I, like many others, can't get the mind to work with any consistency or regularity. When I set it up with the Apple Homekit, toggling the fan speed doesn't work. I can turn the fan on or off at any speed, but try using the app to change the speed to one of the other options. Well I'm overdriven and I see the speed switch to something else. What? I called customer service several times and they sounded really apologetic; They should therefore be hit on the right and left. The remote works well and it's disappointing that the third party company they hired to do the IoT is so bad. Also, as others have suggested, the beep is just plain annoying. What idiot thought it was a good idea for the fan to make an awkward and rather loud beep when I press something on the remote control (which I don't even want to use)? So if someone is sleeping and I want to turn the fan on/off, is there a nasty beep? Short-sighted to the extreme. I just can't understand what QA processes and product development processes in the company have made it possible for what seemed like a trivial and insignificant thing like a ridiculous beep to become an end product. Then I realize that fans are obviously built to last and their internal processes are designed for that, but when it comes to everything else, expect the worst. I'm really not one to claim heads matter, but how did you all launch this product? It's nice that their marketing says it works with Google Home because that's a complete lie. It was in 2018, but they discontinued it (or the third-party IoT company they use to integrate with Google Home discontinued). Again, google it and see what other people are saying. You're probably better off getting a dumb fan and then something that talks about the internet and over the air. Fan companies can't seem to give their fans a silly little thing that can do both.
