Review on πŸ— Deluxe Stainless Steel Vertical Meat Poultry Chicken Turkey Roaster by Norpro - Model 266 by Elizabeth Gibson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent way to cook chicken

I usually don't like new cooking equipment because many products are overrated. In this case, the vertical fryer is far superior to the conventional grid. I've cooked about 10 chickens with it so far. Each chicken was sequentially cooked at 370 degrees Fahrenheit for a cook time of 1 hour 15 minutes. . . exactly. There were none of the inconsistencies that you would find with a regular skillet. Every part of the chicken was cooked every time so there were no surprises. Cleaning is much easier than a traditional brazier. There is only a base and two small wires that need to be stripped. I usually clean it up a bit and put it in the dishwasher. No more scraping fifteen different fins off a traditional grill. The vertical brazier is very simple and very well constructed. I bet it will last for years. I thought about buying a Norpro vertical grill with brewer for more money (because it looks better in the picture) but really no reason. You still need to use a baking sheet or skillet underneath this upright roaster. . While it's sturdy and won't tip over (my chickens weighed about 6 pounds), the base is big enough to catch juices. A frying pan is needed to keep the chicken from splashing. I doubt I'll ever use a regular chicken casserole again. It is so good. Updated 1st July 2011: Currently over 30 chicks and every single one is perfect. Updated January 8, 2012: At least 20 more chicks. Only 2 of about 50 have remained unfinished so far. I think my oven had problems with it. This roaster makes my life so easy!
