The stand works as is, but I don't like the design. It uses a friction hinge to adjust the angle of the screen. I have an iPad (5th gen) with a case and screen protector which adds weight. The screen's viewing angle setting is too weak for my heavy rig, so it rotates down a lot. I think it's designed to hold lighter items. It works great with phones, my Fire tablet, etc. Anything that weighs less should be fine. There's no way to tighten the screen angle setting, it's set to a specific friction that only works for lighter objects.
