Tivo used to be exceptional. The user interface was very intuitive and easy to navigate. I've been using it for more than 17 years, almost since the first Tivo came out. There are (still) many positive aspects compared to many DVRs out there - scheduling videos for different shows is still very easy (hope they don't change this in the future) - show schedules are organized by season and easy to find and Watch any episode - just in case the episode isn't available but on Netflix, Hulu etc (depending on what you have) it will still show up in the right place in the list and you they can run just like that any entry. There is a way to view the specified show types (movies, etc.) and filter by type (action, drama, etc.) - you can easily schedule a series. - Lots of others that I can't remember right now. CONS: Now that they've changed the UI, the navigation is really bad and clunky, so bad that I always have a hard time finding the various functions that used to be easily accessible from the main menu (if the user has the Tivo button on the t at the top of the remote control).- An example would be searching for other Tivo devices in your house connected to the same computer network: in the old interface they were at the bottom of the My Videos list, but in the new one Surface , I still can't find it. When I finally find it after navigating back and forth through confusing navigation and multiple menus, it's like Christmas and getting a present. - Other examples: setting up various things like channels, remote controls, etc. - The feature that allows you to transfer videos from one Tivo device to another is no longer available. Now all you can do is stream. So if you have to change your hard drive (because after 2-3 years it starts to go crazy) you will lose all your recordings as you can no longer transfer them to another Tivo device. - Transferring videos from your computer to one of the Tivo devices is no longer possible as the Tivo Desktop Plus has also disappeared. The speech recognition is really not very good (yet). I suggest they work with some engineers from Revain, Google or Microsoft. Overall, I still love Tivo, but their new UI is disappointing to say the least.
