Doesn't work with iPhone

First of all, I like that this screen is very clear, like a phone screen, but it's very delicate. Oddly enough because you don't even have to touch it and it will make decisions that can be annoying. I love that there is a portrait mode so it's cool and the mount is very nice, it's set up so you don't have to cover the ports when the device isn't on the mount. Conveniently, as you drive, it shows gas stations on the map and gas stations in a specific area of your route in a general side view. The Garmin Zumo 396 screen leaves a lot to be desired as it is an old model which looks like it has a piece of plastic on the screen and tends not to be as sensitive, the quality isn't that good either but I do I would definitely prefer Garmin to TomTom for all the reasons I'll mention in a moment. The round trip feature is fantastic, you just enter a destination and it creates a round trip route with different routes in each direction. The Garmin Zumo 396 tops this feature by adding a timed round trip option. A lot of times I want to go on a trip with no destination and tell Garmin I have 2 hours to ride and it finds a lush round trip for me, which is really cool. For things I don't like. The UI is awfully clunky, to undo the route you want (I got the item back), click on the menu, scroll right, select 'current route', select 'delete route'. no x on the screen? The Garmin Zumo 396 has an x icon on the screen. When I used the app and sent directions to the device, it didn't save the settings to avoid freeways etc. Also, there was a time when I got directions on the device itself. and told me to avoid freeways and I took "Interstate 390". It's literally an interstate highway, and I checked the "avoid interstate highways" box. Garmin Zumo 396 has the same issue of not supporting route settings between the phone and the device, but this can be changed easily by pressing the wrench icon and adjusting it. On a TomTom, go to the menu, scroll right, select "current route", select sections to avoid, select motorways in the directions list. He'll avoid that part and then try to get you back onto the highway further down, so you'll have to repeat this over and over again. The device connected to my phone fine the first time, but then it won't reconnect, or it reconnects for traffic but not notifications. Apparently there is a problem with iOS 13. The Garmin Zumo 396 connects every time without problems. TomTom only shows phone and text notifications, Garmin shows all notifications and also has a media control option if you accidentally listen to music. Not that I will be using the media player while riding a motorcycle, just to point out how much better Garmin is. I expected the TomTom to be able to track my travels. So if I take a trip that I particularly like, I could save it, unfortunately I don't. but guess what it does? The Garmin Zumo 396 stores your rides for 6 months and you can save them as "Tracks". TomTom's route editing feature is pretty much useless, as mentioned before when I had to manually delete motorways. If you select a different route on the Garmin Zumo 396 and want to edit your route, simply click Edit, then tap the road you want and the route will be recalculated. It's a very simple process and even shows you how many minutes you're adding from your edits. I've read almost all the reviews of both the TomTom Rider 550 and the Garmin Zumo 396, and while both had their quirks, based on the reviews, TomTom always seemed to be the one that came out on top. I don't understand why the Garmin is so much better in almost every way. And on the few occasions that TomTom wins, it's so useless that there's no point in using TomTom. Don't buy that, buy a Garmin Zumo 396 for the same price and enjoy your GPS. Even if you want GPS and don't care about phone features Garmin is still way better, you won't regret it.
