Our feral kittens and cats are in heaven!

Winters here in Maryland aren't as severe as elsewhere, but here they often hit teenagers. I wanted to make life easier for our 8 feral cats/kittens this year and this heated pillow really seems to be helping. a picnic table and sheltered on the other side by a house. I placed a rubber honeycomb mat between the heating pad and the wood deck to keep the area out of the water and provide some insulation. The outlet is only a few feet away so this location seemed almost perfect. This pillow was almost the same size as the box and I couldn't find the right size. Cats and kittens first looked into the box, then took a few steps in it, half of the body still dangling. It was only about a day before they entered and lay down on the platform. It wasn't uncommon for three or four to squeeze into the box, especially at night. The pillow worked perfectly, helped of course by her siblings' body heat. Interestingly, Mon usually stayed near the box and didn't go inside. Maybe to protect your kittens? I think so. I ended up buying a much larger 17" x 41" storage container (90 gallons I think). This box is big enough for all 8 including mum who is now also included in the box. The heating pad is now at the other end of the box with about 1/3 of the bottom of the box uninstalled. I plan to buy a large pillow if I can find one. I regularly finger the lid of the heating pad to make sure it doesn't get wet. I have washed and dried the cover twice since purchasing it. The lid seems to be holding up well. No signs of cat chewing. Likewise, no one seems interested in chewing on an "armored" power cord. Although the electronic controls are designed to only power the pad when there is a certain weight on it, the pad feels warm all the time. . It's only 40 watts (I think) so I don't mind, but the controls may not work exactly as intended. That is perhaps my only criticism. In addition, it is an excellent heating pad for kittens.
