Almost 1 month UPDATE 11/3/2021: STILL WORKING, NO LEAK, QUIET VIBRATION, CLEAN TANK FOR MY IGUNS AND FRIENDS Will be turning it off pretty soon to clean the whole canister. I hope there will be no problems afterwards. I like that I don't have to change the water as often. No problems with my brackish water fish. DAY 1 IMPRESSION: QUIET, GREAT SPACE SAVING, QUICK SET UP, ALL REQUIRED ITEMS SUPPLIED This is the first time we are trying this canister. I'm setting up a new tank for a puffer fish that needs brackish water. With a frameless tank that doesn't have a filtration system or anything like that, I figured I'd spend about $10 more on this external canister filtration system. I chose this brand because it is cheaper than others. I hope it doesn't spill over time, but put it in a bucket to be safe. MATERIALS: - White hard plastic canister with locking system with 4 plastic clips - Be careful it seems a bit fragile, don't break it - Reminds me of a similar lock. System in the form of bowls/containers for food storage - 3 filter pads inside with different micron filtration (white, blue, yellow, black carbon) - 2 plastic grids - 2 transparent green tubes - thick, strong, water flow is visible, replaceable , if you want a longer length or color just buy it yourself from a hardware store / fish shop etc. - 3 small bags of small inlet and outlet pipe connectors - assembly required (see .) * 1 bag of black connector for the top cover parts * 1 bag - inlet pipe * 1 bag - outlet pipe. Exhaust tips have 2 styles to choose from: 1. Swivel (rotates 360 degrees) 2. Rain rod (multiple holes) It took me a while to figure this out because I was looking for what this swivel part goes with...that is just an additional option, but my favorite is the rain pole. I look forward to trading them for glass lilies to try. The length of the inlet tube that draws the water into the canister was very close to 12 inches...my tank is 12 inches high and the end of the tube barely touched my gravel surface. The opening lid when unpacking requires a small finger muscle to pry it open as it sucks very firmly into the container. Just be patient and separate it through the slit and it will separate eventually. It only took me a few seconds to open it after the air inside had escaped. You cannot close the lid. PREP (Starting the water circulation): Glad I read the reviews, I didn't bother sucking up the hose to start the water flow - instead I connected the outlet and inlet pipes to the rim of my tank. Then he picked up the can, straightened the pipes for a while until he saw water flowing through them, and then set the can on a stable surface. You remember the same methods used to clean gravel with a hose...this is how it works. Physics.NOISE: That's a very minimal buzz. It's beautiful lol. This is only my first day so I hope this won't be a nuisance in the future. Will update the review if this happens. Overall I am satisfied with this purchase. With its size and cylindrical shape, it resembles an igloo water jug. Great for my small living space. We recommend!
