In order to use this tripod for my astronomical telescope I had to make some changes. First I changed the 5/8" hold down screw to 3/8"; then added a spacer chain. I also made a pillar to elevate the telescope just enough for the eyepiece to come off its legs when aimed at the zenith. It works great now, a solid tripod for my scope. Finger touch resolves in less than 2 seconds, excellent durable aluminum tripod.
