Good for tool box

I bought this gauge to accompany my boat and truck tool box for basic on site electrical diagnostics. The Darsonval moving-coil meter is a throwback to the "analogue" days and has the advantage of being able to quickly identify small changes in measurement. Much more information than digital meters, even at their better sample rates. Minor issues: I had to adjust the meter's "zero" setting for its left side, resting position, and I used a new Varta AA alkaline cell instead of the cheap Chinese zinc-zinc cell that came with it (thrown away ). The test leads have caps at both ends, but the cable's plastic insulation is unusually stiff and difficult to position close to the circuit being measured. With a field meter, accuracy is less important than the ability to validate a circuit. But this meter seems to be within 1% of known DC resistance and voltage. The AC voltage is off by 5%. At the time of writing this review I have not measured the current. The product is recommended.
